“The company started with a VISION

The President of Memoxpress, Mr. Edwin Tan, saw the value of digital information in developing countries like the Philippines. He knew at that time that communication service providers would have significant social, cultural and economic impact in the society. Initially, he started to partner with Motorola Philippines, Inc through a company named EXXON International that handles distribution of pagers and transmission line equipment. Pager was the first and formal introduction of telecommunication in the country. It was a catalyst which created a need for better and efficient communication among the consumers. With the help of his two brothers, namely Edward and Edgar Tan, they decided to build the Mind Alliance Ventures, Inc. (MAVI) in 1998 with the aim to reach wider market through the retail of telecommunication networks and providing after sales service to the buying public. 

Memoxpress (MX), being the trade name, started with four brands – Motorola, Ericsson (later known as Sony Ericsson and now Xperia Sony), Nokia and Siemens. From the retail stores the creation of the concept/exclusive shops emerged in which the store only sells one particular brand and the store is named under the brand it carries. Since then, Memoxpress has grown to become one of the leading telecommunication dealers in the country. At present, it carries 28 brands of international, China and local brands for featured and smart phones and tablets as well. The Memoxpress stores, together with, the concept stores, are strategically located in NCR, Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao. Expanding Memoxpress footprint nationwide, it has also touch based with far flung provinces (smaller communities) thus the creation of Jr. Memoxpress (Jr. MX). It has also forged ties with magnate mall operators namely Sy (SM Department and Appliance stores, Savemore, Hypermarket), Gokongwei (Robinsons) and Shopwise, Ng (Anson) and Ayala (Glorietta, Centrio, The District) also known as MAVI key accounts. 


In response to setting the trend in the market, the company decided to venture into The Hive shops – a more sophisticated experiential  clientele and provide level up services – personalized and experiential e.g. complete line up of live units, comfortable atmosphere. Memoxpress has widened its scope of value added services from retail and after sales service. It now offers extended warranty, free product and data synchronization training for customers, partnership with network operators like Globe and on line selling through Lazada.
